Are you looking for a teaching role where you can make a real difference every day? Do you value strong relationships, small class sizes, and being part of a caring and supportive school community?
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teacher to join Burlescombe Church of England Primary School, a small and welcoming village school set within the beautiful rural landscape of Mid Devon.
This is a particularly exciting time to join the school as it prepares to transfer to The Academies for Character and Excellence (ACE) at the end of the summer term. Recruitment is being undertaken in partnership with Alumnis MAT.
ACE is a Trust deeply committed to delivering exceptional education through collaboration, equity, and excellence. Alongside a strong academic focus, the Trust places real emphasis on character education, personal development, and ensuring every child and member of staff is supported to thrive. Through its collaborative network of schools, staff benefit from excellent professional development opportunities, shared expertise, and a culture where people are encouraged to grow and flourish.
At Burlescombe, every child is known, valued, and encouraged to achieve their very best. The school is organised into two mixed-age classes from Reception to Year 6, creating a nurturing and rewarding learning environment. This role will focus on Key Stage 1, teaching Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 children within a mixed-age setting. Small class sizes allow teachers to build strong relationships with pupils and families while tailoring learning to meet the needs of every individual child.
We are seeking to appoint a full-time Key Stage 1 Teacher who will inspire curiosity and a love of learning in young children while creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching across Reception, Year 1, and Year 2, build positive and lasting relationships with pupils and families, and maintain high expectations for all learners. You will work collaboratively as part of a supportive small-school team and embrace the Christian ethos and values that underpin the school community.
Applications are welcomed from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and teachers on the Main Pay Scale.
In return, we offer the opportunity to teach in a setting where small class sizes make a genuine difference, allowing for personalised learning and meaningful connections. You will be part of a warm, caring, and supportive school community, working with enthusiastic, well-behaved children who enjoy learning. Alongside this, you will benefit from being part of ACE, with access to high-quality professional development, collaboration across a wider network of schools, and opportunities to grow and flourish in your career.
Visits to the school are warmly encouraged so that you can experience first-hand what makes Burlescombe such a special place to work and learn. To arrange a visit, please contact the school on 01823 672521.
