Head of Development and Partnerships
Location: London or Midlands (regular travel between sites will be required)
Type: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience and location)
The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non‑departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity. We share the RAF story through its people, collections, and storytelling to engage, inform and inspire. We are a Carbon Literate organisation that promotes Carbon Literacy.
Role Overview
As Head of Development and Partnerships, you will report to the Director of Finance and Resources and work closely with the Chief Executive Officer. You will develop and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy covering both revenue and capital income, lead a skilled Development team, personally cultivate and secure significant gifts, and build strong relationships with Trustees, senior colleagues and external partners, including the Museums partnership with the RAF Museum American Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver a comprehensive fundraising strategy for both revenue and capital programmes.
* Lead, mentor, and manage a high‑performing Development team.
* Personally cultivate and secure significant donations, and maintain donor relationships.
* Forge and maintain relationships with Trustees, senior leaders, and external partners.
* Lead the Museums partnership with the RAF Museum American Foundation.
* Engage in major capital fundraising, trusts, and foundations.
* Plan and execute stakeholder events and engage in international fundraising.
Qualifications
* Senior fundraising professional with a strong track record of delivering successful strategies.
* Experience in capital fundraising, trusts, foundations, and stakeholder events.
* Proven ability to work at a senior level with Boards, donors and partners.
* Excellent communicator and inspirational leader.
* Experience in international fundraising is highly desirable.
