Overview
An established civils and reinstatement contractor is seeking a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to support its operations in Norfolk, working on high-security infrastructure projects. This role will be primarily based at one key site but may involve travel to other locations within the group. The successful candidate will play a vital role in driving compliance, promoting a positive safety culture, and ensuring the highest standards in health, safety, environment, and quality (SHEQ).
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular site audits and inspections, ensuring SHEQ compliance across operations.
* Advise teams and management on site-specific safety and environmental practices.
* Act as Permit Controller, ensuring all work permits and inspections are accurately issued and recorded.
* Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Deliver and coordinate training on SHEQ topics, ensuring staff are competent and informed.
* Maintain and report on SHEQ performance metrics, recommending improvements where necessary.
* Support the preparation and review of RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
Candidate Profile
Essential:
* NEBOSH or IOSH qualified (or working towards)
* SMSTS (Units 1–3) certification
* Experience within utilities, construction or civils environments
* Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations
* Confident in incident investigation and SHEQ reporting
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Physically fit and comfortable working in site environments
Desirable:
* Experience supporting high-security or critical infrastructure projects
* Ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organisation
