A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Facilities Maintenance Operative (MFO) to join our team at the Port of Tyne.
The Mechanical MFO role exists to ensure the effective examination, testing, installation, and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment in accordance with site and health and safety procedures.
Hargreaves Industrial Services provides a varied Operations, Maintenance, and Industrial cleaning service to our client at the Port of Tyne Biomass handling facility.
We are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operations of a material handling system consisting of traditional and air glide conveyors, transfer towers, and three 25,000-ton storage silos, which transfer biomass wood pellets from vessels to a rail loading facility. We also maintain and operate the system that sends biomass material via rail to Lynemouth power station.
The site is supported daily by our industrial cleaning team, ensuring a strict cleaning regime is adhered to at all times.
Role responsibilities include:
1. Effective examination, testing, installation, and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment following site and safety procedures.
2. Fault finding and repair solutions on mechanical apparatus.
3. Operating plant and equipment for seamless discharge, storage, monitoring, and reloading of biomass wood pellets.
4. Performing maintenance and repairs on all mechanical equipment as per operation manual schedules, including planned maintenance.
5. Operating workshop equipment and tools, and completing relevant documentation.
6. Conducting examinations, inspections, and testing of all mechanical equipment.
7. Raising and closing out defect reports.
8. Adhering to health and safety procedures, including reporting procedures.
9. Liaising daily with the team leader, mechanical supervisor, and management.
10. Assisting other staff with site tasks as required.
Candidate requirements:
1. Served apprenticeship in mechanical engineering.
2. COMPEX certification (desirable).
3. Knowledge of plant, especially working within ATEX zones.
4. Positive attitude towards safety.
5. CPCS safety passport or equivalent.
