Job Overview
An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Pharmacy Technician with an interest in Technical Services. The successful applicant will work as part of a cohesive team, operating within a licensed Aseptic unit offering a high quality service to both internal and external customers. The suitable applicant should be highly motivated, with excellent attention to detail, good organisational and prioritisation skills, and strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
Responsibilities
* You will be involved with the final checking of aseptically prepared items made under the Manufacturer's Specials Licence.
* You will be involved in organising and implementing the training of new and existing staff.
* You will support the management, development and delivery of the aseptic service, including the day-to-day running of the service and workflow.
* You will be responsible for accurate stock management and aseptic training of Pharmacy Technicians and support staff, ensuring standardisation of practice and learning.
* The successful candidate will operate on a rotational basis between the Level 2 Satellite and the Oncology Satellite, and provide support to wider Technical Services teams, including the Aseptic Training team, as required.
Requirements
* Essential: Registered Pharmacy Technician, or due to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC by May 2025.
* Essential: Current knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice, including dispensing and aseptic services.
* Essential: Demonstrable experience of working in a hospital pharmacy, including aseptics.
* Essential: Clear and concise verbal and electronic communication within the pharmacy team; ability to prioritise in a work-based setting.
* Desirable: Management qualification; experience supervising staff and carrying out appraisals; ability to plan and deliver training sessions.

* The Central Aseptic Services Unit (CASU) is currently closed due to a temporary MS licence suspension; the licence is suspended until 13 March 2025.
* Role will begin on a rotational basis between the Level 2 Satellite and the Oncology Satellite, with potential wider support to Technical Services teams.
* Flexibility in working arrangements may be available; discussions at interview stage are encouraged.
* DBS checks are usually required; some posts may incur DBS costs.
