We're working on behalf of a fantastic special school in Newbury that are looking for SEMH Learning Support Assistants to join the team for an immediate start. The school is split into 2 sites, Primary & secondary, and they're both on the lookout for new staff due to an increase in student numbers.
The school looks after students with a range of different special needs, but mostly all students have SEMH. The age range is from 4-16.
The role
The role of LSA involves being proactive in class. The most successful LSAs are those who are always on the lookout for how to assist the class teacher and never sit still.
You must be calm, patient, enthusiastic, and confident in dealing with challenging behaviour. Ideally, you would have previous experience in a school environment and with SEMH. However, the school is open to a range of applications, including those from support work backgrounds.
