This role supports the provision of palliative care to children, young people and families living with life-limiting conditions. The role involves providing high‑quality, holistic, family‑centred and compassionate care while meeting the complex clinical needs of the children in our care.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the delivery of high‑quality nursing care to children and young people who receive respite and end‑of‑life care at the hospice.
* Contribute to the ongoing assessment of children and young people, providing and monitoring care.
* Participate in the training and development opportunities and frameworks provided by the hospice education team.
* Report changes in the child/young person’s symptoms and condition, implementing changes in treatment/symptom management with support from the nursing team and according to hospice policies and procedures, following care plans and the use of patient safety tools.
* Work within your scope of practice and clinical competence, asking for help from registered and senior nurses when appropriate.
* Advocate for the child and young person and their families, supporting and promoting decisions, choices and best interests.
* Work as part of a team, providing support and supervision to students and junior members of staff.
* Ensure the holistic care of children and young people by liaising with and referring to the wider support teams within the hospice.
