Ty Garth Newydd is a 4-bed unit for adults with learning disability and mental health diagnoses. As a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker, you will be supporting individuals with their day-to-day needs as well as supporting them to develop the skills they need to gain independence and move on from the hospital environment.
Your role will involve positive behavioural support, identifying primary and secondary preventative strategies and at times implementing restrictive practices, when all other strategies have been ineffective.
This role can be a physically and emotionally demanding role and team working is essential. You will be supporting the nurse in charge to provide the best quality care for the individuals we support.

Main duties of the job
Supporting individuals with every aspect of their daily routine.
Supporting individuals with health appointments and community activities
Monitoring side effects of medications and physical and mental
Health needs and reporting issues to the nurse in charge
Behavioural observations and interventions
Skills teaching
Coping mechanisms
Evaluations and daily recordings
Cooking, cleaning and driving and raising any environmental concerns to the nurse in charge
Supporting our patients through periods of stress/ anxiety and providing a therapeutic environment. Utilising primary prevention and responding to and managing behaviours.
Supporting family visits
Supporting individuals through health promotion
