Job Summary:
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.
This is an essential role within the Regiment and is responsible for the management and control of stores and equipment, which are held centrally in the Quartermaster's Department and issued to Squadrons to be deployed on Exercises and Operations worldwide.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Overtime may be available and required as there may be a demand on the store which is outside normal working hours.
Job Description:
This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for an organised and dynamic person to join a busy and welcoming Army Reserve Quartermaster's Team providing logistical stores and sustainment support to The Royal Wessex Yeomanry (RWxY), Bovington.
Key responsibilities of a Storekeeper:
* Management and control of stores and equipment, using a combination of IT systems and paper accounting processes.
* Demonstrate strong customer service skills, along with basic digital literacy, and the ability to react quickly and positively to change and understand the importance of following manual handling regulations.
* Assist in the management of the day to day running of the store.
* Issuing and receipting equipment to personnel.
* Ensuring all equipment is clean and serviceable.
* Maintaining documentation for stores accounting and auditing.
* Assisting the Duty Officer with daily and weekly checks.
* Demanding of stock.
* Preparation of accounts for Logistical Support Assurance and Inspections (LSA&I) visits.
* Liaison with departments over provision, supply & maintenance of clothing.
* Backloading & disposal of all commodities.

Essential skills required:
* Sound numerical and literacy skills
* Capable of coping with manual work, within safe manual handling limits
* Ability to work on own initiative and with minimal supervision.
* Hold a clean UK driving licence Cat B
* Security Clearance (SC) is required for this post, successful candidates will be subject to vetting.
* Organised, have good communication skills, and possess basic MS office skills.
* The role requires a degree of physical ability as you will be expected to lift and carry boxes and equipment around the store (also load / offload vehicles), and place / retrieve items and boxes from shelving that may be above head height.
Desirable skills:
* MJDI trained (training given)
* Computer literate
* Relevant experience, understanding of military stores management and accounting procedures.
