The role
At Natural Resources Wales (NRW), our Flood Risk Analysis team plays a vital part in protecting communities by developing and maintaining the flood risk mapping and modelling that underpins our work.
As a Flood Risk Analysis Advisor, you will help manage NRW's extensive flood risk data, providing hydraulic models and technical guidance to colleagues and external partners. This role offers an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of flood risk management, with support to further develop your hydraulic modelling skills.
You will help maintain and improve our flood risk datasets and archives, undertake modelling tasks, and review third-party models submitted to support new developments. Your work will directly inform the Wales Flood Map, a key public resource that helps communities understand their flood risk.
You will also collect and analyse flood incident data to strengthen future modelling and deepen our understanding of flood mechanisms. Through clear, evidence-based advice, you will support partners and stakeholders in using our data to plan effectively and build resilience in flood-prone areas.
The role will be required to visit remote sites at short notice to undertake site visits and post flood investigations. The ability to drive will be beneficial but adjustments can be made to support a successful candidate that cannot drive to undertake site visits.
