About our Department : The legal team touches every part of the University and we pride ourselves on thinking differently to give our internal client teams the best commercially astute legal advice. No day is ever the same and the work is varied. The legal function also includes insurance, data protection and FCA compliance in addition to core legal activity such as commercial contracts, student complaints, property, consumer advertising, policy drafting, risk management and overall compliance. About the Opportunity: Reporting to the Data Privacy Lead, the Data Privacy Analyst will play a key role in supporting the University’s data protection function within the Legal team. You will work closely with the Data Protection Officer and Data Privacy Lead to manage a varied and busy caseload, providing practical data protection advice and ensuring the University meets its statutory and regulatory obligations. You will be responsible for handling and responding to data subject requests, including subject access requests and erasure requests, ensuring they are managed accurately, consistently, and within required timeframes. The role will also involve maintaining and updating the University’s data protection registers, supporting the effective governance of personal data across the organisation. This is a key operational role within the legal and compliance function, offering the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality data protection services across a complex and fast-paced higher education environment. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the University to support compliance, reduce risk, and promote best practice in data privacy. About You: We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Data Privacy team within Legal at Arden University. You will be a self-starter with a proactive approach to your work, able to manage your own workload effectively while maintaining accuracy and consistency in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and a keen interest in data protection will be essential, along with the ability to think analytically and apply a risk-aware approach to your work. Essential requirements: Good communication skills, both written and verbal Strong and clear written communication skills Self-motivated with initiative and a strong drive to succeed Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret and assess information Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage own workload effectively High level of attention to detail and accuracy Ability to identify data flows, map information, and assess risk Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel Good understanding of UK GDPR and awareness of emerging AI technologies and their impact on data protection Desirable requirements: CIPPS qualification AiGP qualification Studying towards a law degree Previous employment experience in a governance role. Previous employment experience in data privacy or risk management. Experience of attending meetings and taking detailed notes in order to diarise/prioritise action points. Experience of working in a fast paced office environment.
