Commercial Air Conditioning Installation Engineer
Field-Based - M4 Corridor (Bristol to London) / Travel Required
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (depending on skills and experience)
Hours: 7:30am - 4:30pm (including two-way paid travel)

Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading mechanical services business for experienced Commercial Air Conditioning Installation Engineers. The business specialises in full M&E installations and service works, covering the M4 corridor with occasional visits further afield. The company works on high-spec commercial projects, including pharmaceutical and medical laboratories, offices, retail, and industrial sites. This role offers hands‑on experience with a variety of HVAC systems, including split, multi‑split, and VRF systems, as well as MVHR, AHUs, and cold room installations. Both single‑skilled and multi‑skilled engineers are sought, with multi‑skilled engineers undertaking additional responsibilities in electrical, gas, or refrigeration works.
Minimum Role Expectancies (Single‑Skilled F‑Gas)
Installation of commercial air conditioning systems including:
* Split systems
* Multi‑splits
* VRF systems
* Installation of MVHR systems, including ductwork, grilles, and louvres
* Commissioning and testing of AC systems in accordance with specifications and standards
* Working to strict Health & Safety procedures on all sites
Multi‑Skilled Role Responsibilities
In addition to the above, multi‑skilled engineers may also be required to:
* Install refrigeration and freezer systems, including walk‑in cold rooms and bespoke control systems
* Install new electrical circuits and power supplies to mechanical plant, including testing/inspection if qualified (AM2)
* Install domestic services and drainage, including MCW/DHW supplies, unvented DHW cylinders (tickets required)
* Undertake mechanical installations including boilers, plant room fit‑outs, and general heating ancillaries
* Work across multiple M&E disciplines, providing a complete installation solution
Typical Projects & Scope of Work
The business operates across multiple commercial and industrial sectors, with long‑term client partnerships, particularly in pharmaceutical and medical labs. Typical installations include:
* VRF and MVHR systems
* AHU DX cooling systems
* Walk‑in cold room fridge/freezer systems with bespoke controls
* Lab water and drainage systems
* Domestic water and drainage systems including sanitaryware
* AHU run‑around coil circuits, including pressure sets, pump sets, expansion vessels, etc.
* Unvented DHW cylinders
Candidate Requirements
* F‑Gas qualified (essential)
* Multi‑skilled engineers: Electrical AM2 or Gas Safe certification (required for multi‑skilled tasks)
* Proven experience installing commercial air conditioning systems (split, multi‑split, VRF, AHUs)
* Experience with mechanical pipework, ductwork, and plant room installations
* Refrigeration system installation experience for multi‑skilled engineers (cold rooms, freezers)
* Ability to read and work from technical drawings, plans, and schematics
* Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
* Full UK driving licence (essential)
* Ability to work independently in a field‑based role, managing own schedule and workload
* Professional, customer‑facing approach and strong communication skills
