Role Overview
UNSW’s School of Humanities & Languages seeks two Post-Doctoral Fellows in History. The two‑year position is open to candidates working on any time‑period, from Ancient History to Contemporary History, and any methodology including oral history, gender history, the history of race, and more.
* Duration: 2‑Year Fixed‑Term Contract
* Employment Type: Full‑time (35 hours p/week)
* Salary: $91,381 – $121,838 + 17% Super + Leave Loading
* Location: UNSW Kensington Campus (Hybrid Working)
* Reports to: Head of School (no direct reports)
Responsibilities
* Undertake high‑quality research and make an original contribution to History.
* Contribute to the research culture of UNSW and develop research expertise.
* Create and publish high‑quality peer‑reviewed scholarly outputs.
* Organise, present, and participate in conferences and workshops, including a minimum of one public seminar or lecture at UNSW.
Qualifications
* A PhD in History, examined and awarded after 1 January 2021, or a PhD in its final stage of completion, due to be examined before 1 February 2026.
* Demonstrated ability to undertake high‑quality academic research with limited supervision.
* A clearly defined research program.
* Potential to produce high‑quality publications and conference presentations.
* Experience working collaboratively in a research team.
