Job Title: Electrical, Control & Instrument Engineer

 Location: Denton, Manchester (Hybrid – Tue/Wed/Thu in office, Mon/Fri working from home)
 Hours: 40 hours per week
 Rate: £48.00 per hour Ltd (SME status)
 IR35: The company is an SME and is not required nor responsible for making IR35 status determinations.
 Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Electrical, Control & Instrument (EC&I) Engineer to support a range of chemical and gas storage plant projects. The successful candidate will be involved in all project phases — from concept and design through to testing and pre-commissioning — and will work closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient solutions.
 Key Responsibilities:
Specification and selection of instrumentation, electrical (up to low voltage), and control equipment.
Development of control system documentation, including URS and FDS.
Preparation of cable schemes, drawings, and schedules.
Application of hazardous area design techniques, including intrinsically safe systems for chemical and gas storage environments.
Supervision and coordination of EC&I designers.
Conducting site surveys of existing chemical and gas storage facilities.
Overseeing testing and pre-commissioning of EC&I systems.
Collaboration with process, piping/layout, and civil/structural engineering teams.
Effective communication with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Occasional client visits and site surveys (no extended stays).
Management of multiple concurrent projects, ranging from large-scale new builds to smaller modifications (“cut and carve” projects).
Requirements:
15+ years of relevant EC&I engineering experience.
Proven background in the design of chemical and gas storage industrial plants.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
Knowledge of Functional Safety (IEC 61511).
Valid safety passport or equivalent site access certification.
