Overview: The role of a Technical Instructional Designer is to create highly engaging learning interventions that drive real-world outcomes for our apprentices and clients. Technical instructional designers design blended learning experiences, create multi-modality learning experiences, and act as a primary subject matter expert for the content they produce. What you will do: Curate and Integrate Supplemental Materials: Design human-led components and activities that complement AI-generated content, ensuring a seamless and holistic learning journey for the apprentice. Design Personalised Learning Experiences: Design complex assets that require a high degree of creativity, human empathy, or nuance that AI cannot replicate. This includes designing custom content for major accounts, high-touch onboarding programs, or multimedia assets. Innovate and Prototype New Formats: Act as the team’s leader in designing and prototyping new learning modalities that lie beyond our current capabilities. This could include creating interactive scenarios, branching narratives, or multimedia assets. Collaborate and Advise on AI and Human Output: Work closely with the programme owners and designers to provide feedback on the quality and pedagogical effectiveness of AI and Human output. Your insights will directly inform the continuous improvement of the AI’s rules and framework. Be the subject matter expert for the development of technical curricula : Produce, refine and evaluate human and AI-generated content for accuracy, pedagogical effectiveness, and alignment with learning objectives. What you’ll bring: Deep experience in applying the end-to-end ADDIE process to high-level curriculum design instructional/learning design. Experience designing and developing industry-relevant curricula and that leverages applied and active learning principles. Experience utilizing AI-powered tools and prompt engineering to accelerate content development and identify innovative applications in learning design. Experience using knowledge of own technical domain to simplify complex subjects and concept to develop technical content. Experience applying strong backward design principles to create measurable learning outcomes and aligned formative and summative assessments Communicate effectively and can have productive conversations with peers and senior stakeholders leading to curriculum enhancements Prior Experience/Qualifications: We would expect applicants for the role to have at least one of the following: Additional experience producing for technical disciplines such as Data, Cyber security, Software Engineering or IT Ops. 2 years of experience in instructional design within a commercial environment or for commercial clients One of: - Computer Science Degree (or cognate subject) - Completion of an apprenticeship in a technical domain (Data; IT; Cybersecurity; Cloud) - 2 years of experience as a practitioner in a technical domain (Data; IT; Cybersecurity; Cloud) Benefits Time off - 27 days holiday, plus 5 additional days off: 1 life event day, 2 volunteer days, 2 company-wide wellbeing days (M-Powered Weekend) and 8 bank holidays per year Health & Wellness - private medical Insurance with Bupa, a medical cashback scheme, life insurance, gym membership & wellness resources through Wellhub and access to Spill - all in one mental health support Hybrid work offering - for most roles we collaborate in the office three days per week with the exception of Coaches and Instructors who collaborate in the office once a month Work-from-anywhere scheme - you'll have the opportunity to work from anywhere, up to 10 days per year Space to connect: Beyond the desk, we make time for weekly catch-ups, seasonal celebrations, and have a kitchen that’s always stocked! Roles involving Regulated Activity may interact with vulnerable groups, therefore are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 meaning applicants are required to declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings. Providing false information is an offence and could result in the application being rejected or summary dismissal if the applicant has been selected, and possible referral to the police and the DBS.
