The Land Lead (Estate Management) will lead and be responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of the organisation's rural and residential land and property portfolio. This role blends professional surveying expertise with estate stewardship, ensuring that rural and residential assets are managed effectively, sustainably, profitably, and in compliance with legal and environmental standards, while at the same time ensuring that the estate is managed to align with organisational goals and statutory requirements. A pivotal part of the role will be the management of external land agents and direct liaison with tenants and landowner where escalation is required. Lead the development and implementation of estate management strategies and policies.
Be accountable for the strategic and operational management of the estates, including all agricultural, residential and conservation assets.
Ensure all estate assets comply with relevant legislation, planning regulations, and environmental standards.
Liaise with legal, planning, and surveying professionals to resolve land-related issues.
Provide expert advice on land use, valuation, and development opportunities.
Oversee maintenance and improvement of estate assets.
Support sustainability and good land management initiatives across the estate.
Proven experience in estate or land management, ideally within a public sector or large organisational context.
Strong understanding of land and property law, planning regulations, and land valuation.
Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills. Ability to interpret and manage complex legal and technical documentation.
Demonstrable experience in residential and rural land management.
Knowledge of property and rural legislation and environmental policy.
Proficiency in valuation, tenancy law, and estate finance.
Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
Degree or equivalent qualification in Estate Management, Land Management, Agriculture, Surveying, or a related field.
