Autism Support Worker
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £92 – £110 per day
GSL Education are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Autism Support Worker to join a specialist setting in Scarborough. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), supporting them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
About the School:
* Specialist provision for children and young people with ASC and additional needs.

Autism Support Worker Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and group support for pupils with Autism.
* Support communication using strategies such as PECS, Makaton, visual schedules, and social stories.
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
* Assist with personal care and daily routines as required.
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement individual learning and behaviour plans.
* Encourage independence and social interaction within structured and unstructured activities.
The Ideal Autism Support Worker Will Have:
* Experience supporting children and young people with ASC in educational or care settings.
* Understanding of autism, sensory needs, and associated behaviours.
* Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively.
* Experience in implementing PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems (training can be provided).
* A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
