Job Purpose
Ontic is a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineered parts for the global aerospace and defence industries. We are seeking a Management Accountant to join our team at our new MRO site in Tewkesbury. This role is ideal for a newly qualified or part‑qualified accountant making a first move from practice into industry.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the month‑end close process, including preparation and posting of journals and reporting into group consolidation.
* Owning and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely resolution of reconciling items.
* Preparing monthly variance analysis with clear commentary to support the Head of Finance and wider business.
* Performing monthly intercompany reconciliations and resolving differences.
* Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
* Supporting quarterly balance sheet reviews and providing supporting analysis to group finance.
* Partnering with the transactional finance team to improve processes and resolve queries.
* Maintaining and strengthening financial controls, ensuring they remain robust and fit for purpose.
* Supporting internal and external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to queries.
* Contributing to process improvement initiatives, particularly around balance sheet reconciliation and reporting efficiency.
* Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal policies and regulatory requirements.
* Analyzing financial data and producing meaningful insights to support business performance and decision‑making.
* Providing guidance and informal support to junior team members (e.g., finance graduate or intern).
* Supporting ad hoc projects and providing assistance to the wider global finance team where required.
Essential Qualifications
* Newly qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or relevant audit/practice experience looking to move into industry.
* Strong understanding of core accounting principles, particularly around balance sheets and reconciliations.
* Good Excel skills (e.g., lookups, pivot tables, data analysis).
* Strong attention to detail and a logical, methodical approach.
* Ability to manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
* Confident communicator, able to explain financial information to non‑finance stakeholders.
* Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and improve processes.
* Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience using ERP systems (e.g., Syteline or similar).
* Exposure to Power Query, SQL or other data tools.
* Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Evidence of continuous professional development and progression.
