Job Summary
This role is open only to current employees of NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board, Cornwall Foundation Trust, or Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.
Role Overview
We are seeking a creative, organised and motivated person to support the delivery of our engagement and communication strategies across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. You will work closely with the ICB team and partner communication and engagement teams, using a mix of face‑to‑face and digital methods to reach diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate engagement and communications across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, building relationships with stakeholders and identifying local communication channels.
* Produce digital communications, including films for board meetings, AGMs, staff briefings, system bulletins and engagement events, and create engaging social media shorts and static assets.
* Plan, book and coordinate engagement activities throughout the year as part of a wider strategy.
* Support the wider team on communications and engagement projects, including during major incidents or system pressures.
* Collect and manage communications requests from ICB colleagues, prioritise, deliver or delegate them in accordance with the communications and engagement process.
* Guide volunteers and staff at events, facilitate surveys and interactive activities, and capture feedback for use in reports to decision makers.
* Oversee the design of surveys, engagement delivery, communication tactics and materials aligned to the agreed engagement plan.
* Document engagement events with photos and video, create content for NHS digital platforms, e‑bulletins, webpages and partner channels.
* Generate ideas to support the engagement programme and communications activities in line with the team’s strategy.
* Log media enquiries, assist with responses, create social/audio/digital content, write media releases, and manage project information and enquiries.
* Contribute to the delivery of programmes, projects and other team activities, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
Qualifications and Training
* Essential: Degree or equivalent experience.
Relevant qualification in communication, marketing or journalism.
* Desirable: Continuing professional development.
Knowledge and Experience
* Demonstrable experience in media, public relations or a corporate environment delivering engagement and/or communications.
* Experience of dealing directly with the public, stakeholders and staff on potentially contentious or sensitive matters.
* Hard‑working, enthusiastic, creative with a can‑do attitude.
* Experience organising, managing and attending engagement events, including public events, focus groups and staff briefings.
* Knowledge of NHS and current national initiatives.
* Experience producing social content, newsletters, films, web content and overseeing campaign literature design.
* Desirable: Previous experience delivering NHS/public sector communication.

Working Arrangements
Hybrid working across our Bodmin and Truro offices. The role is fixed term for 5 months, part‑time and flexible.
