The Yorkshire & Humber Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (Y&H NODN) is looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Allied Health Professional (AHP) and Psychology Team. This strategic role supports the development and delivery of equitable, psychologically informed care across 19 neonatal units in the region, following the National Neonatal Critical Care Review and NHS Long Term Plan.

About You: You are a compassionate and forward-thinking person with:

HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist

Doctorate-level training in Clinical Psychology

Extensive neonatal CPD and a maintained Personal Professional Profile

Significant post-qualification neonatal experience at Band 8a or above

A passion for collaborative, network-based working


Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Neonatal Network Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Lead strategic initiatives to embed psychological support across neonatal services

Collaborate with Network leadership to define priorities and deliverables

Facilitate matrix working with multidisciplinary teams, LMNS, MMHS, and third-sector partners

Support service development, commissioning, and gap analysis to promote equity

Represent the network in national clinical psychology forums and working groups

Person specification


Qualifications

* HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
* Post-qualification specialist training in particular psychotherapeutic approaches e.g. ACT, CFT, VIG, Infant Mental Health, CBT
* Evidence of extensive Neonatal CPD in line with recognised competencies and maintenance of a Personal, Professional Profile
* Leadership course/module or recognised Leadership qualification


Experience

* Significant demonstrable experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist
* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan
* Evidence of significant post-graduate neonatal experience at Band 8a or above
* Specialist experience in the area of perinatal mental health


Other

* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
* Formal training in supervision of other psychologists or equivalent experience
* Ability to work autonomously, providing specialist advice to the organisation, working to tight and often changing timescales
* Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in highly complex groups (e.g. complex PTSD, dual diagnoses, etc.) and an understanding of neurodiversity and implications for intervention and parental experience on the unit
