Business Development Manager
Help Life Sciences Deliver More Equitable Clinical Trials
At COUCH Health, we believe healthcare works best when it works for everyone.
Right now, too many people are excluded from clinical trials — not because they refuse to participate, but because they’re not reached, not understood, or not supported. That exclusion slows down research, limits access to life-changing treatments, and reinforces health inequality.
We exist to change that.
COUCH partners with pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and clinical research teams to design trials that reflect real communities. We help clients engage underrepresented populations, remove barriers to participation, and embed inclusion into trial design from the start.
Now, we’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help us grow that impact across the UK.
If you’re motivated by purpose as much as performance — and you know how to win trust in complex B2B environments — this could be your next move.
The Role
Win Work That Changes Lives
This is a UK-wide, remote-first role focused on growing COUCH through strategic, consultative sales.
You won’t be selling a generic service. You’ll be leading thoughtful conversations about equity, patient engagement, and better research outcomes — and turning those conversations into lasting partnerships.
What You’ll Be Doing
Driving New Business with Purpose
* Building and managing a strong, forward-moving pipeline through outreach, referrals, partnerships, and industry events
* Leading consultative discovery conversations with pharma sponsors, clinical operations leaders, and trial teams
* Understanding regulatory pressures, recruitment challenges, and commercial drivers
* Clearly articulating how inclusive engagement improves recruitment, retention, and trial success
* Developing compelling proposals and presentations that combine credibility, evidence, and impact
* Negotiating and closing high-value opportunities
Shaping Partnerships & Commercial Direction
* Staying close to developments in clinical trials, patient recruitment, and health equity
* Identifying where COUCH can evolve and strengthen its services
* Collaborating closely with delivery teams to ensure everything sold is ethical, achievable, and patient-first
* Feeding market insight back into the business to sharpen positioning and growth strategy
What Success Looks Like
* A consistent, well-qualified pipeline with strong forward momentum
* New client wins driven by trust and value-led selling
* Revenue growth aligned with COUCH’s mission and expertise
* Insightful commercial feedback that strengthens our strategy
* Becoming a trusted internal voice on market opportunity
About You
You’ll thrive here if you bring:
* Experience in consultative B2B sales (ideally pharma, clinical trials, healthcare, or adjacent services)
* Confidence navigating complex buying groups and multi-stakeholder environments
* Strong commercial judgement and negotiation capability
* Excellent communication skills — you can talk outcomes, not just services
* A proactive, self-starting mindset with strong follow-through
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
* Experience working with CROs or clinical trial operations
* Exposure to patient recruitment or community engagement
* Understanding of health equity challenges in clinical research
* Experience selling service-led solutions rather than products
If this role excites you but you don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
Why Join COUCH?
* Purpose-driven work that directly impacts access and inclusion
* The opportunity to influence how clinical trials are designed and delivered
* Clear commercial opportunity with uncapped commission
* A passionate team with strong values and real ambition
* A flexible, remote-first culture
* A business with a clear point of view — we are here to make healthcare more human
Working Style & Location
* UK-wide, remote-first
* Occasional travel for client meetings, team sessions, and industry events
Compensation
* Base Salary: £40,000
* OTE: £80,000
* Uncapped commission
Inclusion & Equal Opportunities
We are committed to building a team that reflects diverse perspectives — just as we are committed to creating more inclusive health experiences through our work.
If you require adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know — we’re here to support you.
