Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Electrical Engineer (contract) to work in our Reading Green Park office. The role will be on a full-time basis.
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for Electrical Power System studies and Electrical activities in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for Pre FEED, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects within the energy sector. You will ensure the work is in accordance with design standards and codes whilst co-ordinating with the rest of the project engineering teams.
You'll need to utilise your extensive previous experience in FEED and EPC projects within the Oil & Gas Industry to develop, prepare, review and deliver design deliverables and packages and carry out Power System Studies using speciality software like ETAP or equivalent. This will be assisted by your knowledge of power systems and digital control systems.

Expected:
1. Bachelor’s degree within the Electrical Engineering field or a BA in Science with a focus in Electrical Engineering
2. Extensive experience in engineering and design
3. Must have experience with Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP) or similar software and all Microsoft office
4. Must have Pre FEED, FEED, EPC and EPCm project experience including carrying out Power System Studies and driving project decisions based on study recommendations
5. Engineer must be familiar with NEC, IEEE / ANSI, IEC and other International electrical standards, best practices and value practices
6. Thorough knowledge of the English language is required to perform the necessary in depth analysis and studies, make professional presentations and keep up with technical advancements
7. Experience of technical management of Third party Power system study consultants
Desirable:
8. Chartered Engineer
9. Experience of site support and construction during EPC phase of projects
10. Familiar with analogue and Digital Control Systems including Power System Automation (PSA), DCS, PLC and SCADA controls
11. Experience with Middle East based clients and Projects including Saudi Aramco
