This role is pivotal in supporting their finance function and ensuring the overall financial health and compliance of the business.
Role Purpose
As an Accounts Assistant, you will provide essential day-to-day accounting support, ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, and assist with month-end processes and management reporting. Your contributions are vital in maintaining strong financial controls, complying with regulatory requirements, and enabling informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Process supplier invoices: Check, code, input into the accounting system, and prepare for approval.
2. Prepare and issue customer invoices and statements and follow up on receivables.
3. Reconcile supplier and customer accounts on a regular basis.
4. Assist with bank reconciliations (daily/weekly/monthly).
5. Support month-end closing: Prepare schedules and assist in the preparation of management accounts.
6. Maintain accounting records, ensuring they are up to date and comply with company policies and accounting standards.
7. Liaise with other departments to ensure accurate interdepartmental accounting.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
8. AAT qualified (or working towards AAT) or equivalent accounting qualification.
9. Previous experience in an accounts/bookkeeping/credit control role.
10. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
11. Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups.
12. Excellent numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
13. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
14. Reliability, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
