Design / Building Engineer (Industrial Projects)Day ShiftCirca £55,000 + Bonus + Enhanced BenefitsLocation: ExeterWe're looking to speak with engineers who have experience working with building layouts, CAD drawings and site development projects, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment.This is an opportunity to join a global engineering business supporting the redevelopment of a newly acquired site, helping shape it from early design stages through to a fully operational production facility.Rather than a purely contracts or senior project role, this position sits closer to the detail. You'll be reviewing layouts, working with external designers, and ensuring what's being designed actually works on site.You'll act as the link between drawings and delivery, supporting contractors, coordinating activity, and making sure designs are practical, safe and fit for purpose.What You'll Be DoingSupporting the redevelopment of an industrial site into a new production facilityWorking closely with architects and external design teams on building layouts and infrastructureReviewing CAD drawings (AutoCAD or similar) and feeding back on practical site requirementsMaking minor amendments to layouts where needed and ensuring designs are workable on siteCoordinating contractors during build and installation phasesSupporting delivery across civil, mechanical and electrical worksActing as the point of contact between design teams and site operationsReviewing RAMS and ensuring works are carried out safely and in line with CDM regulationsSupporting utilities integration including power, gas and HVAC systemsHelping oversee installation of plant, equipment and supporting infrastructureSupporting the transition from build phase into an operational manufacturing facilityWhat's In It for YouInvolvement in building a new production facility from the ground upLong-term progression into a site services / facilities engineering roleStable, well-invested business with strong long-term plansExposure to large-scale site development and industrial projectsCompetitive salary, bonus and enhanced benefits packageDay-based role with good work-life balanceWhat We're Looking ForBackground as a Design Engineer, Building Engineer, Facilities Engineer or similarExperience working with CAD drawings (AutoCAD or similar), including reviewing and ideally making basic editsExperience supporting building, refurbishment or site development projectsComfortable working with external contractors, architects and design teamsUnderstanding of building services such as electrical infrastructure, HVAC or utilitiesAbility to interpret technical drawings and translate them into practical site requirementsAwareness of site safety, RAMS and CDM regulationsOrganised, hands-on approach with the ability to coordinate multiple activitiesDesirableExperience within industrial or manufacturing environmentsExposure to planning or building regulationsFamiliarity with project stages (RIBA or similar)Interested?This is a good fit for someone who enjoys the design and layout side of engineering but still wants to stay close to site and see projects delivered properly.If you want something a bit different from a standard maintenance role and like the idea of shaping a site from the ground up, it's worth a conversation.TPBN1_UKTJ
