You will provide strategic leadership, direction and operational support to qualified and non-qualified staff across the service accounting function. You will support services across the council to deliver their priorities by providing high quality financial management information and professional advice to budget managers. This is also an opportunity to review and develop current processes and practices to enhance service outcomes through best practice, benchmarking analysis and key financial drivers. Reporting to the Chief Officer – Finance you will ensure financial controls are compliant with financial regulations and codes of practice to secure probity. You will contribute to the council’s medium term financial strategy and the production of year end accounts and deputise for the Chief Officer Finance, attending and advising a range of stakeholders including councillors and committees, and the council’s management team. You will also deputise for the Chief Officer Finance on matters relating to the S95 statutory role.
