Reference 2026-179613 Position description Domain Performance and Support Job field / Job profile IT - IT operations management Job title Infrastructure Team Leader (Internal Only) M/F Employment type Permanent Professional category Employees / Staff Part time / Full time Full-time Job description Reporting to the Services and Solutions Manager, the Infrastructure Team Leader is responsible for leading the infrastructure function across the UK and Asia regions. The role combines technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring the successful delivery of infrastructure projects, stable operational services, and continuous improvement across storage, virtualisation, networks and backup environments. The role holder will provide direction, mentorship, and operational oversight to the infrastructure team while acting as a senior technical authority and key stakeholder interface. - Lead, manage, and develop a team of Infrastructure Engineers - Set clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations aligned to IS and business strategy - Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development planning - Coach, mentor, and support team members to build technical capability and career progression - Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and accountable team culture - Manage team capacity, workload distribution, and resource planning across BAU and project activities - Act as escalation point for technical and operational issues, removing blockers and driving resolution - Lead major incident response (P1/P2), ensuring effective coordination and communication - Promote adherence to security, compliance, and operational governance standards - Work with SLS and Safran Architects to ensure compliance with SLS and Group standards - Provide site roadmaps for all infrastructure equipment and projects - Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for virtualisation, storage, and backup technologies - Provide technical leadership for VMware, Networks, NetApp, and enterprise backup platforms - Oversee infrastructure design, build, and implementation to meet business and project requirements - Ensure best practices in system configuration, security hardening, and compliance - Review and approve technical designs, documentation, and implementation approaches aligned and agreed by group architects - Drive standardisation, automation, and optimisation of infrastructure environments - Stay abreast of emerging technologies and recommend strategic improvements But what else? (benefits, specificities, etc.) - ITIL Foundation (or higher) certification - Experience with Agile / DevOps ways of working - Knowledge of aerospace or similarly regulated industries - Experience contributing to infrastructure strategy and roadmap development - Financial awareness including budgeting and cost management - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) - French language skills (advantageous) - Strategic thinker with strong operational execution - Hands-on leader who can balance technical depth with people management - Proactive, accountable, and results-driven - Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments - Strong focus on continuous improvement and service excellence Candidate skills & requirements - Lead Infrastructure workstreams within projects, ensuring delivery to scope, time, and quality - Collaborate with PMO, IS Management, and business stakeholders on project planning and execution - Support the preparation of technical proposals, feasibility assessments, and solution designs aligned and agreed by group architects - Provide regular status reporting, risk identification, and mitigation planning - Ensure high-quality technical documentation is produced and maintained - Translate business requirements into technical deliverables and actionable plans - Manage multiple concurrent initiatives - Own operational stability and performance of VMware, networks, storage, and backup environments - Provide L2/L3 support oversight and guidance for complex technical issues - Ensure effective monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes - Lead root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to avoid recurrence - Define and track SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics - Oversee performance monitoring, reporting, and capacity planning - Drive continuous improvement of operational processes and service delivery - Ensure regular log reviews, system health checks, and audit compliance - Support automation initiatives through scripting and tooling - Ensure relevant support contracts are in place and kept up to date - Proven experience in an Infrastructure Team Lead / Senior Engineer role within a complex enterprise environment - Strong leadership and people management skills, including coaching and performance management - Experience managing geographically distributed teams (e.g. UK and Asia) - Deep technical expertise in VMware, NetApp, backup technologies, and operating systems - Strong experience in infrastructure project delivery and cross-functional programme management - Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis capability - Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to influence at all levels - Experience in incident management and leading major incident responses - Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver across multiple initiatives - Experience with automation and scripting for operational efficiency - Strong documentation and technical writing skills - High attention to detail, resilience, and ability to operate in complex environments Position location Job location Europe, UK, England, South West City (-ies) Gloucester Candidate criteria Additional Languages preferred English (Fluent)
