We have a great opportunity for qualified engineers familiar working in a pump, compressor or rotating machinery environment. Our principal consultant Robin Thomas is looking to place an Applications Engineer for a UK based manufacturer of precision-engineered pumps and associated systems, serving customers all around the globe.

As an Applications Engineer, you'll review formal customer enquiries and prepare detailed, technical quotations which meet customer requirements technically and commercially, whilst providing the firm with the best chance of winning an order.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Review formal customer enquiries to determine project suitability
* Select pumps for complex pumping applications in the water industry
* Prepare detailed technical and commercial quotations
* Obtain supplier quotations to enable accurate equipment costing
* Provide technical support to customers throughout the pre-order stage
* Support the external Sales team during the technical and commercial bid evaluation phase
* Assist the contracts department with technical queries during the manufacturing period
* Liaise with other companies from the group on joint projects as necessary
* Attend customer meetings (office or site)
* Effectively communicate with internal and external customers, suppliers and staff at all levels
* Prepare, present and discuss technical and commercial material with senior personnel from internal and external customers
* Essential ONC/OND or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications)
* Customer focused with the ability to work well under pressure
* Engineering knowledge, preferably within the pumps industry
* Experience of selling activities in a pump, compressor or other rotating machinery environment
* Highly numerate with competent IT skills, particularly Excel and Word Knowledge and practical application of ISO
* Experience of pump selection and operation, including system interaction
* Knowledge of pump applications within the Water industry
* Experience of contract both technical documentation and negotiation of T&Cs
* An understanding of the concepts and application of associated equipment: Electric motors, VFDs, Mechanical Seals etc
