A welcoming and diverse primary school in Eastbourne is seeking an experienced and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis starting in September 2025. This role offers the chance to support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping to provide tailored support to meet each child’s individual needs. Key Responsibilities: Support pupils with SEN in the classroom, working closely with the class teacher to implement personalised strategies and scaffolding to aid their learning and development. Provide individual and small group support, promoting engagement and progress across the curriculum. Assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment, ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported in their learning journey. Support regulation strategies, helping pupils develop emotional and behavioural regulation within the classroom. Help with the preparation of learning resources tailored to the specific needs of the pupils, ensuring accessibility and differentiation. Support students with communication challenges, ensuring they can effectively express themselves and access the curriculum. Work collaboratively with staff to create and implement individualised learning plans. What We’re Looking For: Previous experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school setting or with other relevant experience. Knowledge of EHCPs, inclusion practices, and strategies for differentiation and scaffolding support. Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues. A positive, proactive attitude, with a commitment to promoting inclusion and empowering students to succeed. Ability to provide emotional support and foster self-regulation in pupils.
