Would you like to join a friendly, flexible and knowledgeable team making a difference to one of England’s distinctive protected landscapes and the people connected to it? Our work is varied and outward-looking with scope to shape new ideas and approaches that deliver lasting impact. The Role The High Weald National Landscape Partnership brings people together to conserve and enhance a special landscape while addressing the environmental, social and economic challenges facing it. This role will expand our land management team and enable practical action on the ground. You’ll contribute to activity that leads to nature-friendly farming, woodland management, habitat creation and management, invasive species control and sustainable visitor access. You will: take a landscape-led approach that reflects the character of the High Weald landscape and the needs of its communities; provide clear, multi-faceted and up-to-date advice that supports and inspires sustainable land management; help farmers and land managers with site surveys and mapping, management plans, grant applications, project specifications and contractor management; and facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing to help find solutions to land management challenges. In return, you’ll join an ambitious and supportive protected landscape sector with the opportunity to influence practice, foster innovation and deliver tangible outcomes. What we are seeking We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working with a range of people, delivering practical outcomes and cares about farming, nature and sustainable land use. You will be: Knowledgeable about land management, conservation, farming or a related field Able to manage a range of ideas and objectives and offer technical advice and guidance Experienced in developing and delivering land management projects Able to plan and organise a varied workload. You don’t need to meet every requirement to apply. If this role excites you and you are keen to achieve a beautiful, thriving landscape that all people feel part of, then we encourage you to apply. We have two job descriptions for this role to encourage both experienced and less experienced people to apply: a Land Management Officer (SS9) and Land Management Project Officer (SS10/11). Please indicate which role interests you in your Supporting Statement. Application process To view the job description and person specification and apply for this role, please visit the East Sussex Jobs website and search job vacancies. Interviews Interviews will take place in person at our offices on Thursday 16 July. If you are unavailable on these dates let us know and we may be able to schedule an alternative date to interview you. Flexible working We welcome applications for full-time or part-time working (minimum 22.2 hours per week) and will consider a term-time working pattern. Location and working arrangements You’ll benefit from hybrid working, combining remote working with time in our modern offices at Flimwell, on the Kent/Sussex border. You will need to be able to regularly travel around the High Weald National Landscape which covers parts of Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey. East Sussex County Council, as the Partnership’s host authority, employs our team. Benefits East Sussex County Council offers a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. More information can be found on their benefits page. “This is an exciting time to join our team, as protected landscapes play an increasing role in addressing climate change, biodiversity loss and community wellbeing.” For an informal discussion about this opportunity contact Gerry Sherwin, Business Manager at g.sherwin@highweald.org to request a MS teams call or phone call.
