This is an exciting role within a fun and dynamic team, where you’ll work with a varied portfolio of clients across our private client tax service offering. This role is client-facing and requires excellent communication skills and the ability to build long-term professional relationships with clients and internal teams. The role involves managing deadlines and complex technical tax queries, providing accurate and timely information to clients to help them make informed business decisions. Responsibilities include processing personal tax returns and preparing other tax reports for HMRC, including EIS investments and employee option schemes.

Duties & key responsibilities

* Complete standard income tax returns and Employment Related Securities reporting
* Participate in the implementation of Making Tax Digital from 2026
* Use standard communication templates where required
* Communicate effectively with colleagues and HM Revenue & Customs
* Maintain and update tax spreadsheets and databases regularly
* Complete all work within designated timeframes
* Accurately complete timesheets promptly
* Manage administrative aspects of the client onboarding process within the tax team
* Support the Tax Manager and the wider senior tax team, including Senior Tax Managers and Tax Directors
* Study for and pass professional exams
* Meet all exam and course deadlines
* Plan and organize study throughout the year to achieve consistent results

General responsibilities

* Assist the Tax Manager and senior tax team members in their responsibilities

Skills & abilities

* Basic understanding of income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax
* Proficient in IT tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and relevant tax software
* Ask questions to improve knowledge and understanding
* Communicate effectively face-to-face and over the phone with clients and third parties
* Take responsibility for work quality and manage workload and deadlines under supervision
* Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to tasks, seeing them through to completion
* Be aware of cost implications and adhere to budget requirements
* Be self-motivated to study and prepare for exams
* Maintain professional conduct and standards
