We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. Purpose of the role: The Estimator will produce estimates, providing all details of the job, including time, labour and material required and process to be followed ensuring high levels of customer service are maintained Scope & Relationships: The Estimator will liaise with Management to assist with the generation of machine shop processes and routings with appropriate times to determine machining costs. Additionally you will work closely with the sales team to ensure all targets and objectives are met. You will also liaise with Production personnel, customers and suppliers as necessary. Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Provide the sales team with accurate quotations for all machine part components including materials, labour, specification, sub contracted items etc to customers requirements. Interpret customers’ requirements from drawings, specifications, samples or computer 3D models (CAD). Liaise with the Production and Purchasing departments to ensure correct delivery estimates are offered. Liaise with Management to assist with the generation of machine shop processes and routings with appropriate times to determine machining costs. Liaise with the machine part sales department regarding customer data/information. Provide the purchasing team with supplier quotations for “bought in” products in the event of quotations converting to orders. Liaison with material and sub contract service suppliers to determine best external costs as and when required Assist in providing statistics regarding yields of quotations to orders, orders lost on price, etc. Be aware of and liaise with the machine part sales/quality departments where a concession to customer drawings may be necessary. Comply with all health and safety procedures and regulations laid down by the company. We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive time-served Machinist to join our skilled team. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in a similar role, showing a strong background in both CNC and manual machining. You will be confident working independently as well as part of a team, with a professional and methodical approach to your work. The successful applicant will be familiar with a wide range of CNC milling and turning operations, and will also have solid experience in manual milling and turning processes. A sound understanding of current tooling technologies and developments is expected, enabling you to support continuous improvement in machining efficiency and quality. You will be expected to demonstrate: Strong practical machining skills with a hands-on, solutions-focused attitude. A good working knowledge of modern CNC machining techniques and tooling. The ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings with accuracy. High levels of accuracy and attention to detail, supported by excellent mathematical and numerical capabilities. A commercially aware mindset, with the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while balancing cost, quality, and delivery. Effective communication skills and a confident approach when dealing with colleagues and other departments. Competence in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. A positive and collaborative attitude, contributing to a culture of high standards and ongoing improvement.
