Senior Commercial Operations Manager - Defence

Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategic commercial plans tailored to efficiently achieve business objectives in accordance with industry regulations and processes related to public sector bidding.
* Lead and manage the tendering process, including proposal development, pricing strategy and risk management, with a strong understanding of public bidding procedures and industry‑standard terms such as NEC and FIDIC.
* Negotiate contracts and agreements with customers, ensuring familiarity with agreements pertinent to the Energy Sector, such as NDAs, MOUs and Consortium Agreements, while maintaining alignment with company goals.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, legal, technical and operational teams to ensure seamless execution of commercial initiatives that respect public sector procedural requirements.
* Review and redline contractual terms, ensuring they meet company objectives and industry standards; lead negotiations with customers, working closely with legal teams to address complex issues and ensure compliance.
* Extract and analyse data from internal systems to generate insights that inform strategic decisions and align with industry protocols.
* Evaluate and mitigate contractual risks, establishing robust risk management processes that adhere to security classification and compliance standards.
* Maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and customers, acting as a trustworthy and polite advisor familiar with industry‑standard procedures.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
* Significant experience in commercial management, with a strong preference for familiarity with Government Contracts within the Defence sector.
* Demonstrated experience in negotiating high‑value contracts and managing complex commercial operations.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop strategic insights and actionable plans.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead cross‑functional teams.
* Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g. Salesforce, Excel, CPQs) is preferred.
