As Western Australia’s first and leading university, UWA brings passion, energy and insight to teaching, learning and research, generating life-changing outcomes.
Our valued industry connections, innovative courses, commitment to student experience and high-impact research place us among the world’s top 100 universities. We are a proud member of the Group of Eight (Go8) universities.
The Role
Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience), the Director, Student Living provides strategic and operational leadership for UWA’s residential accommodation and associated living services.
This is a significant opportunity to shape a vibrant, student-centred accommodation ecosystem that includes University Hall, an expanding network of University-owned and managed residences, and the development of a new 850-bed facility adjacent to the Crawley campus.
The Director will play a key role in advancing the vision of a 24/7 campus village, creating a welcoming, inclusive environment that enhances student belonging, wellbeing and success. Working closely with the Principal of University Hall and other partners, the appointee will oversee the delivery of high-quality accommodation and student living experiences that reflect UWA’s ethos and ambitions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capability, commercial acumen and deep stakeholder engagement experience. You will have a proven record in managing complex residential or hospitality operations, or transferable expertise from sectors such as project management, property or design, combined with a service-oriented mindset.
You will be financially astute, comfortable managing multimillion-dollar projects with external contractors, and capable of balancing operational excellence with student affordability and satisfaction. Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks, including the forthcoming National Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence, will be important.
This role suits a resilient, hands-on leader with emotional intelligence, sound judgement and the ability to work effectively in a 24/7 environment. Above all, you will share UWA’s commitment to providing students with an exceptional residential experience that is safe, connected and inspiring.
