Job overview
We have a rare opportunity for an administrator to join the Alfred Barrow District Nursing team. The post is for 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The administrator role is paramount for the service. You will answer the telephone, complete non-clinical administrative duties and lead with inputting data for our essential audits and spreadsheets. You will work within a supportive, experienced and friendly professional team and have senior nurse support to triage the referrals into the service. This is a brilliant opportunity to experience working in a team and develop knowledge on NHS computer systems and processes. You will have access to training opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job
* Provide a comprehensive administrative support service, including telephone contact with staff and patients, use of IT packages, notes/file management, inputting patient data, attending meetings, taking minutes, preparing spreadsheets and audit information, archiving patient notes, photocopying and scanning. Ordering patient equipment via the community equipment store and NHS supplies.
* Act as the main point of contact for patients/relatives/carers and other health care professionals; take messages, signpost callers for non-clinical advice as appropriate, ensuring adherence to Caldecot guidelines; communicate in a compassionate, empathetic and assertive manner as appropriate.
* Provide information to patients regarding community appointments and direct queries to the correct source.
* Liaise with team members to ensure an effective use of clinical time.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as community premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, Ulverston Community Health Centre and GP Practices.
FGH and the RLI provide a range of General Hospital services with Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and Consultant-led services. WGH provides General Hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and services for non-life-threatening conditions. Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and main hospitals, with the aim to help people remain independent and manage conditions through high-quality care, advice and support.

Education and qualifications
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience
* 3 GCSEs at grade C or above to include English Language or equivalent experience
