Job overview
Our colleagues at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals put patients at the heart of everything they do every day; and in our flexible, compassionate, forward thinking psychology service, we are just as passionate about supporting those colleagues in the amazing jobs they do. If you are an HCPC registered (or soon to be registered) practitioner psychologist, we need you to join us to complement our team, who are already achieving great things supporting our workforce in challenging times for the NHS.
Our service delivers clinical psychology assessment and therapy, mindfulness programmes, mental health drop-ins, incident support, psychological first aid and access to short term therapy. We also offer training in CBT skills and group pathways, including a managing emotions and relationships pathway based on DBT training, which has been very popular with attendees and achieved promising outcomes to date.
Feedback from service users and other stakeholders is overwhelmingly positive about our service offer, and we are leading the way in mental health provision, with published case studies and articles about our service.
Main duties of the job
We would love you to join us and help us deliver and further develop this valuable service. In particular we are keen to reduce waiting times for colleagues seeking high intensity therapy (such as for work-related trauma) by providing clinical psychology assessment and therapy (generally 4- 20 sessions). Additional duties will include: contributing to leadership for the colleague support helpline, providing supervision, delivering group sessions, and leading on bespoke support for teams requiring support.
If you have experience working in Occupational Health, you may be particularly attracted to this role, but it's not essential - any experience of working with adults is likely to be relevant. It’s your passion and enthusiasm for the job you do which will really make the difference! We won’t shy away from saying that this can be a challenging role as we support colleagues with a wide range of difficulties, including clinical incidents at work, past trauma and abuse, anxiety, depression, personality and relationship difficulties as well as physical health conditions. However, the job role is very rewarding, as we provide clients with resources and support that enable them to make significant progress with the issues that have led them to therapy.
Working for our organisation
Your development is important to us and there will be opportunities to develop skills and access training; and you will of course have your own clinical supervision and personal development plan. We are a welcoming and supportive team of Psychologists, CBT Therapists, counsellors, psychological wellbeing practitioners and administrators, and we value and practice self care and compassion. You will be managed by our consultant psychologist lead for the service, and will have the opportunity for peer support within the health and wellbeing team as well as the wider health psychology team.
The service is generally weekdays, 9am to 5pm, although some colleagues work compressed hours and offer early and late sessions. There is a mixture of on site and remote working and we are open to job share, part-time and flexible working options.
If this sounds like the role you have been waiting for we would love to hear from you. Please contact for an informal conversation.
