Mobile Library Manager Location: Newry City Library Contract: Temporary (until 31 August 2026) Pay: £15.48 per hour Hours: 36 hours per week Working Pattern: Monday: 9:00 – 16:45 Tuesday: 9:00 – 17:00 Wednesday: 9:00 – 16:45 Thursday: 9:00 – 16:45 Friday: 9:00 – 16:15 Saturday: Off Drive Your Career Forward – Literally! We are seeking a passionate and community-focused Mobile Library Manager to bring library services directly to people across the Newry area. This is a unique opportunity to combine customer service, community engagement, and driving responsibility in a highly rewarding role. ✅ Important: This role requires a valid C1 driving licence (up to 7.5 tonnes) – you will be responsible for operating our mobile library vehicle, bringing vital services to schools, communities and rural areas. Key Requirement – Driving Licence This role is ideal for someone who: Holds a current, full C1 driving licence (required – essential) If you passed your driving test prior to January 1997 you will have the C1 entitlement on your licence, this will be listed on the back of your licence please feel free to call the office on 02844838881 for further clarification. Is confident driving vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes Is comfortable taking responsibility for vehicle checks, safety, and compliance Applications without a valid C1 licence cannot be considered. What You’ll Be Doing As Mobile Library Manager, you will: Deliver engaging and customer-focused library services to communities, schools, and outreach centres Drive and manage the mobile library vehicle , ensuring compliance with all legal, safety, and maintenance requirements Support reading, literacy, learning and cultural activities for a wide range of users Provide excellent customer care, advice, and assistance with library resources Promote library services and develop strong community links Maintain accurate records, statistics and stock management systems Respond professionally to customer feedback and queries Lead, supervise and motivate a small team of library staff Help ensure the library remains a vibrant hub for learning, information and culture ✅ Essential Criteria Qualifications & Experience You must have either: Minimum 2 A Levels (or equivalent/higher qualification) plus 2 years’ relevant customer service experience (within the last 5 years) OR Minimum 3 years’ experience in a customer-focused role (within the last 6 years) AND A full, current C1 driving licence Platinum Recruitment NI Ltd is an equal opportunities employer and a Corporate Member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
