Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Occupational Therapy Team Lead to join our Sandwell Community Mental Health team. This role will lead a dedicated team of Occupational Therapists and oversee the development and quality assurance of the OT service within the Sandwell CMHT.
Responsibilities
* Work with other Trust Services and agencies to ensure that the activity of the designated teams is coordinated in support of effective and efficient care pathways.
* Ensure that team activity supports efficient use of resources in line with allocated budgets.
* Ensure that team activity meets required performance parameters and quality standards.
* Support business planning within the Adult Mental Health Division in line with expertise and responsibilities.
* Act as an active clinical practitioner and contribute directly to the clinical care activity of the team.
* Undertake any other duties of a similar nature consistent with the responsibilities of the post to provide a quality Occupational Therapy service.
* Coordinate and provide professional and operational leadership for Occupational Therapy staff.
* Deliver high‑quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions to people with all levels of mental health difficulties, especially those with complex emotional needs.
* Develop and deliver group work for service users and believe groups provide a rich therapeutic experience.
* Audit and evaluate occupational therapy outcome measures to support a whole‑pathway approach.
* Provide consultation advice on people with complex emotional needs and develop capacity within the team.
Qualifications and Experience
* Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy (Essential)
* Masters level qualification relevant to the post or relevant masters level clinical experience (Essential)
* Relevant leadership training (Desirable)
* Significant experience as a band 6/7 occupational therapist in a relevant clinical field or fields, including extensive mental health experience (Essential)
* Significant experience of multidisciplinary working and development of effective networks/partnerships (Essential)
* Experience of involvement in quality improvement or service developments and leading or supporting change and innovation (Desirable)
* Excellent working knowledge of occupational therapy practice in adult mental health settings (Essential)
* Effective working knowledge of health and social care policy, including the social care context of mental health services (Desirable)
