Join Our Specialist Wound Healing Service

Would you like to be part of a dedicated team focused on improving care and treatment outcomes for patients with complex wound needs, while continuing to develop your specialist skills in wound care?

We currently have exciting opportunities within our Wound Healing Service, a specialist team supporting patients with Hard to Heal wounds. We work collaboratively with patients to set realistic goals based on their individual healing potential.

What We Offer:

Delivery of advanced wound healing treatments in patients' homes, residential/nursing homes, and clinic settings.

A varied role working alongside Practice Nurses, Community Nurses, and Nursing Homes, sharing wound care expertise across the community.

Role Overview:

Provide advanced wound healing interventions in a range of settings.

Actively contribute to the Wound Healing Service as an engaged team member.

Deliver effective, evidence-based wound care and advice to patients attending the service.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main Duties of the Role – Wound Healing Service

Provide clinical day-to-day management of the Wound Healing Service, including assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans.

Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to all patients under the Wound Healing Service.

Offer ongoing supervision, support, and professional development to staff within the service.

Collaborate with other services, organisations, and agencies involved in wound management to ensure integrated care.

Report patient outcomes and service updates to the Clinical Nurse Specialist – Wound Care .

Work within multidisciplinary and integrated teams to promote best practices in tissue viability.

Actively encourage patient involvement in their wound care journey and support the Clinical Nurse Specialist in ensuring the service remains responsive to patient needs.

Use all forms of electronic communication effectively to support service delivery and documentation

Access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence are essential for this role. (Please note: international driving licence is not accepted.)

As a Wound Care Sister within the Wound Healing Service, you will:

Deliver advanced wound healing interventions across clinic, community, and residential settings, tailored to patient needs.

Take responsibility for the day-to-day clinical management of the service, including holistic assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Ensure the highest standards of care are maintained for all patients under the service.

Provide ongoing supervision, support, and development for staff within the team.

Liaise with other services, organisations, and agencies involved in wound management to ensure integrated care.

Communicate patient outcomes and service updates to the Clinical Nurse Specialist – Wound Care .

Promote tissue viability awareness within multidisciplinary teams and encourage patient involvement in their care.

Make direct referrals to vascular surgeons, supported by the Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Make independent clinical decisions and initiate treatments for complex wounds, including Topical Negative Pressure Therapy and Maggot Therapy .

Facilitate comprehensive, documented assessments and develop individualised care plans.

Apply a range of wound dressings and compression bandages with skill and precision.

Use electronic systems effectively for documentation, communication, and data reporting.

Support learners and visitors to the clinic and act as nurse-in-charge in the absence of the Wound Care Sister.

Participate in clinical governance, audits, and evaluation of new wound care products.

Maintain awareness of current best practices and innovations in wound care.

Physical & Emotional Demands

Requires highly developed physical skills for dressing application, manual handling, and working in confined spaces.

Must manage emotional situations, such as end-of-life wound care or non-healing wounds.

Daily use of VDUs and electronic systems for patient records and communication
