Make your mark for patients We are looking for a Research Data Scientist who is curious, driven and compassionate to join our Immunology Research group, based in Slough, UK (Windlesham 2027). About the role In this role, your work will directly contribute to the discovery of medicines designed to transform the lives of patients living with inflammatory disease. This is an exciting opportunity for scientists who are deeply passionate about biology, motivated by real‑world patient impact, and eager to grow their data science skills in service of that purpose. You will do this through the generation, analysis and interpretation of in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo data, supporting therapeutic molecules across discovery and early clinical development. Who you’ll work with Reporting to the Principal Scientist, Resolution of Inflammation, you will work closely with biologists, data scientists, translational experts and cross‑functional project teams across the organisation. You will join a highly collaborative and supportive immunology team working at the intersection of biology, data and translational science, united by a shared goal: improving patient outcomes. What you’ll do Design and perform in vitro immunology experiments that answer meaningful biological questions and support critical project decisions. Develop and use translational cell‑based assays, including complex and physiologically relevant models, to test novel therapeutic concepts and explore mechanisms of action. Apply a broad range of laboratory techniques such as immunology‑based cell assays, co‑culture and 3D systems, flow cytometry, and protein or RNA extraction and analysis. Work with experienced colleagues to explore and interpret complex datasets (e.g. bulk RNA‑seq, single‑cell RNA‑seq, proteomics). Contribute to identifying patient populations most likely to benefit from future therapies, helping to ensure the right medicine reaches the right people. Interested? For this role you’ll need the following education, experience and skills A PhD (or equivalent experience) in immunology, biology or a related life‑science discipline. A strong foundation in immunology and a genuine interest in understanding disease biology. Hands‑on experience with in vitro biological assays and an enthusiasm for experimental science. Experience analysing omics datasets using R (e.g. bulk RNA-seq or single cell RNA-seq). A collaborative, open and resilient approach, with a desire to contribute to something bigger than yourself. Working knowledge of Python and/or SQL, or strong motivation to develop these skills on the job. Experience analysing large‑scale omics datasets (e.g. scRNA‑seq cohorts of ~50 patients).
