Senior Occupational Therapist

We have an exciting opportunity for a brand new development band 5 to 6 Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and complement our expanding Occupational Therapy Team. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who has a passion for mental health, is highly motivated and enthusiastic. You will be part of a dynamic, supportive and diverse multi-disciplinary team. You will receive a structured progression framework for an opportunity to work towards a band 6 senior post. You will receive regular supervision with opportunities to develop clinical and professional practice in line with service user and organisational values.

Main duties of the job
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist, preferably with experience of working with service users with mental health difficulties. You will be responsible for managing a set caseload and be a key member of the team in groupwork delivery. You will have a knowledge of Occupational Therapy theory, utilising a variety of OT interventions and implementing this theory into practice.
There will be an expectation to contribute to the Occupational Therapy service delivery, supervision of the Support Time Recovery Workers (STR) and supervising Occupational Therapy students.
In the wider trust there is an opportunity to deliver training and CPD to others.

* Excellent communication skills in regular contacts with service users, families and carers as well as other professionals.
* Examples of working closely with Multi-Disciplinary Teams, as well as wider inter-agency teams.

* An understanding of Occupational Therapy theory and an example of using this in practice.
* A flexible approach to the post, both in relation to engaging service users, but also to support the service in meeting its needs.
* Enable and empower service users through clinical work, as well as fellow staff and students through facilitating supervisions.
Person Specification
Education/Qualification
* HCPC Registration Degree
Experience
* Understanding and commitment to working within the Multi-Disciplinary Team
* Commitment to person centred care
* Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Ability to cope in potentially stressful situations using appropriate support
Knowledge
* Knowledge and application of occupational therapy assessments and interventions with adults with mental health needs
* Experience of Supervision
* Demonstrate a commitment to successful completion of placement educator training
* Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance and its application
Skills/Personal Qualities
* Commitment and enthusiasm for the continued development of Occupational Therapy service
* Commitment to improving the experience of service users and their carers
