Retail Jeweller, the UK’s longest-standing and most influential B2B title for the jewellery and watch industry, is looking for a full-time Assistant Editor to join its editorial team.
Retail Jeweller is the industry’s leading source of business news, trend analysis, and insight for UK jewellery retailers, suppliers, designers, manufacturers and brands. Established in 1925, it delivers authoritative journalism across digital, print, events, and social platforms.
As Assistant Editor, you will support the Managing Editor across the day-to-day running of the brand, contributing to news, features, interviews, and digital content. You will also play a key role in helping shape editorial planning, supporting events coverage, and maintaining Retail Jeweller’s reputation for high-quality, trusted journalism.
You will be joining the team at a pivotal time for the jewellery sector, as businesses continue to navigate fast-changing retail trends, sustainability demands, shifts in consumer behaviour, and post-pandemic trading challenges, alongside exciting growth in categories including laboratory-grown diamonds, brand partnerships, and ESG.
The role is based at our offices just off Fleet Street in London. We currently operate a hybrid model of three days a week in the office and two days working from home.
Key responsibilities:
* Writing daily online news stories for Retail Jeweller
* Producing regular magazine features, interviews, trend pieces and analysis
* Generating original ideas and supporting exclusives across online and print
* Assisting with editing of monthly print content
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with retailers, suppliers, manufacturing designers and PRs
* Attending and reporting from key industry events, trade shows and awards
* Leading on social media output across Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Facebook
* Sending out daily newsletters, onsite SEO and digital publishing
* Working closely with events, sales, marketing and design teams to support brand objectives
Skills and experience:
* NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification is preferred but not essential
* Some experience in a professional journalism role e.g. editorial assistant
* Experience in B2B, retail, fashion, or luxury journalism desirable but not essential
* Strong understanding of digital publishing and writing for online audiences
* Experience of social media content creation using tools like Canva
* Solid grasp of media law

* Ability to produce engaging, accurate copy to tight deadlines
* Confident in pitching ideas, sourcing stories and supporting exclusives
* Excellent interviewing, research and information-gathering skills
* Ability to interpret industry data, trends, reports and market insights
* Interest in the jewellery and watch sector, or willingness and enthusiasm to learn quickly
* Ability to deputise for the managing editor at industry events
* Strong understanding of images, layouts and social content as part of the editorial process
