We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team based in our Central Support Office in Lasswade. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to support the Finance Team in financial accounting, monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts. You will provide support to the Finance Manager in all aspects of external reporting. Responsibilites Financial reporting and control Preparation of month end reporting of the balance sheet and cash flow Preparation, monitoring and reporting of key business and financial controls within the business Review of balance sheet reconciliations each month Review and challenge of existing processes and controls Development of enhanced reporting to drive efficiencies and improved control Drafting of technical accounting papers as required o Accounting support for non-routine transactions Management of information requirements from lenders Supporting the Finance Manager in the build out of the finance function to support the growing business Coordinating audit requests during the audit process and acting as a contact for the auditors Involvement in the preparation of annual budgets Providing support to the wider financial reporting and control team Encouraging the wider team to think proactively about continuous improvement of the month end reporting process Supporting the professional development of the wider team through mentoring Business partnering with the wider business to provide financial support and ensure commercial awareness and that accounting implications are considered Work closely with the FP&A team to ensure consistency in reporting Ad hoc project work as required by the business Train and mentor team members Takes the lead in creating a great place to work for everyone; creates a positive and engaged team through recognition, fun and inspiring others to achieve An effective coach with the ability to provide direct, honest and constructive feedback Measures of success You deliver all information and reporting on time, accurately and in line with business and legislative timelines You are adding value by questioning and pushing improved working practices to ensure excellence You have a good understanding of people management requirements, approachable and understanding and able to work with team members to find solutions to day-to-day issues You have knowledge of business goals and how team will contribute to company success You resolve conflict and handle negative behaviour effectively You demonstrate our values at all times – we’re one team, getting better everyday.
