Assistant Director of Finance (Charity/Belfast) VANRATH are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading Charity to recruit an Assistant Director of Finance (Financial Control) initially on a 12 month contract, to take on a key role within the organisation and sit as part of the Leadership Team. Reporting to the Group Finance Director they key purpose of the role is to lead a the finance team in playing in key role in driving the Financial Performance of the Group by working closely with the Business, providing Key Financial Information & Insights and providing Commercial Finance Leadership, Support & Challenge. Key Responsibilities: Key member of the FLT providing direction to the Finance team, build a high performing team, promote a culture of One Team and deliver a joined-up, first class service to the business. Lead, develop, motivate and support the people across the Financial Control teams within the Finance function. Lead the delivery of an efficient month end close across the Finance team and the wider Group. Develop and maintain appropriate processes and controls in relation to the timely and accurate processing of all financial transactions for the Group. Identify and implement improvements to the existing financial systems and processes in line with best practice to improve the efficiency & effectiveness of the Finance function, promoting an environment of continuous improvement. Assist with the selection and implementation of financial and other systems as required. Develop and maintain appropriate and relevant policies, procedures and records: Play a lead role in the audit, including being responsible for the timely and accurate production of the annual financial statements for the individual companies and consolidated group. Responsible for the production of month end balance sheets and ensuring timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations. Lead the timely & accurate production of Financial Information (including KPIs, key findings and insights) in relation to the balance sheet and reserves to help manage the financial performance of the organisation. Manage cash flow, including the production of cash flow forecasting over appropriate time frames. Ensure the timely completion and submission of VAT returns and other returns to the HMRC and Revenue Commissioners accordingly. Develop strong working relationships with the business to provide Financial Control support and challenge to the business as appropriate. Support the Group Director of Finance, Property and ICT as appropriate, including attendance at Committee or Board meetings as appropriate. Ensure the timely submission of various Financial Control related returns for Statutory & Regulatory purposes. Carry out any other duty delegated by the Group Director of Finance, Property and ICT appropriate to the Assistant Director of Finance (Financial Control) role.
