An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic staff nurse to join the District Nursing Service in Rural Corbridge as a Community Staff Nurse.
Qualifications
* Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a diverse group of patients with a wide range of conditions and health needs.
* Develop and deliver programmes of health and social care.
* Provide care and support to patients with a terminal illness and their families, including emotional and bereavement support.
* Perform skilled nursing care including assessment, wound management, palliative care and catheterisation.
* Perform diagnostic tests such as Ankle Brachial Pressure Index using Doppler and interpret results to decide further courses of action.
* Perform procedures requiring fine dexterity and skill such as venepuncture, drug administration by injection and removal of sutures.
* Interpret results and communicate them to patients, e.g. blood glucose estimation; explain aspects of care to patients and carers allowing the opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns.
* Maintain and promote high standards of professional practice; share approaches and experience with others.
* Maintain a duty of care to patients, carers and colleagues through personal and professional accountability.
