Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual interested in entering women’s football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.
The role is for Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join the Medical department. The Medical Therapist will support physiotherapy and rehabilitation for all women’s players, primarily the 1st team and occasionally pathway players.
The candidate should be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This is a great opportunity for proactive individuals eager to work in football, with internal CPD opportunities, staying current with literature, understanding scope of practice, and enhancing practical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide emergency first aid during training and matches
* Assess injured players clinically before games
* Maintain detailed injury and treatment records, uploading them to our platform
* Communicate regularly with coaches, the strength and conditioning team, and players about injuries and availability
* Participate in in-house CPD sessions
* Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensure compliance with club policies, including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
Qualifications and Requirements:
* BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* HCPC/BASRat/SST registration
* In-date EMFAif qualification (and commitment to annual reaccreditation)
* Willingness to work with high-level athletes, including injury management and rehab planning
* Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
* Ability to play or participate in football at a high level
* MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
