The Role
This post is part of an Integrated Community Health and Care Service within West Dunbartonshire HSCP. It offers the opportunity to work as a Community Dietitian within the COPT, providing direct clinical assessment and treatment. Within COPT, the post holder will deliver a high‑quality specialist service, offering expert clinical intervention, education, and support to patients and their carers. The post holder will also provide specialist patient assessment, case coordination, treatment, and planned discharge for adults with complex rehabilitation needs.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
Permanent, Full‑time.
Shift pattern: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Base location: Clydebank Health Centre.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist dietetic assessment and treatment for adults with complex health needs.
* Manage a varied caseload independently, planning and adapting personalised nutrition care plans.
* Provide expert input for conditions such as malnutrition, diabetes, neurological conditions, cancer, GI disorders, obesity and dysphagia.
* Work collaboratively with the MDT and multi‑agency partners to support coordinated care and safe discharge planning.
* Maintain high‑quality clinical records and contribute to service improvement, audits and clinical governance.
* Support the day‑to‑day running of the Dietetic service, including supervision of junior staff and students.
* Provide education and training to patients, carers and other professionals.
Qualifications
Essential
* Degree/Diploma (or equivalent) in Dietetics.
* Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Dietetic Association (BDA).
* Postgraduate experience, including relevant work in:
o Adult Rehabilitation
o Neurology
o Orthopaedics
o Medicine
o Care of the Elderly
o Community Dietetics
* Effective communication skills.
* Current full driving licence.
* Ability to work independently.
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
Desirable
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary, community‑based team.
* Leadership skills.
* Knowledge of IT systems.
