The Opportunity
4most is seeking an Actuarial Manager to support our next phase of growth and expansion in the UK. We're looking for individuals with strong analytical, problem-solving, technical, and communication skills who can collaborate with offshore as well as onshore teams in a fast-paced environment. The role offers exposure to diverse challenges, enabling growth and development in an internationally connected actuarial practice.
Our projects range from automation and process transformation to complex capital projections and data management and AI. We're a language agnostic firm, so you'll thrive if you can apply your modelling and coding knowledge in a range of situations and are adaptable to work in different technologies.
What You'll Do
* Working on modelling projects with our insurance clients, ranging from small mutual firms to very large multinationals.
* Contribute to the delivery of actuarial consulting services for life insurance and reinsurance clients.
* Support senior colleagues in building and maintaining client relationships, including preparing materials for proposals and client meetings.
* Coordinate with project teams to help ensure tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard.
* Assist in the development of intellectual capital and share insights with colleagues.
* Stay up to date with developments in insurance, reinsurance, and financial modelling, with a particular interest in the growing applications of AI in actuarial and risk management work.
*What You Bring*
* Strong actuarial and financial knowledge with experience working in life insurance or reinsurance, ideally within a consulting environment.
* Nearly qualified or newly qualified actuary.
* Strong modelling skills, specifically experience of using, validating and reviewing Prophet models.
* Strong coding skills, including but not limited to, R, Python, VBA, and Julia.
* Experience with pricing UK BPA business.
* Experience of working on BPA transactions or with DB pension scheme benefit structures.
* Demonstrable SII and IFRS 17/9 reporting experience, including a good understanding of the SII balance sheet and key IFRS performance metrics, is an advantage.
* Good understanding of capital reporting and modelling concepts.
* A self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced environment and balance priorities to deliver for clients.
* Strong communication and report writing skills who is able to review and challenge technical concepts.
* Experience in documenting and auditing models.
* Experience supporting projects or managing small workstreams; exposure to leading small teams is an advantage.
* Ability to manage own work effectively and contribute to delivering quality outcomes on time.
* Experience or interest in Python, big data, data transformation projects would be advantageous.
* Keen interest in AI, with a willingness to build skills and explore how automation, advanced modelling, and AI tools can enhance actuarial and risk processes.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and on client teams.
* Proven analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues.
* Willingness to travel on an as needed basis. This role actively supports client companies on their sites, and the candidate might be required to spend time on Client Site.
