About the Role:
Our client, a leading provider of residential care for children and young people, is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people by providing high-quality care in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing direct support to children and young people in a residential setting. You will play an essential role in ensuring the well-being, safety, and development of the young people in your care, working alongside a team to promote their emotional, social, and educational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in the residential home, ensuring their safety, emotional well-being, and development.
- Assist with the implementation of individual care plans, helping to address the specific needs of each child or young person.
- Support children and young people with their daily routines, including personal care, activities, and attending appointments as required.
- Build positive relationships with children and young people, offering emotional support, guidance, and encouragement.
- Promote positive behavior, using a variety of approaches to support young people with behavioral challenges and emotional needs.
- Ensure that safeguarding procedures are adhered to at all times and report any
concerns promptly.
- Support with the planning and delivery of social, recreational, and educational activities that promote the personal development of the children and young people.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the progress, well-being, and behavior of children and young people, in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to the development of the home’s daily operations.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the home, ensuring it is a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for children and young people.
- Participate in team meetings, staff training, and personal development opportunities.
- Provide support during evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
-Experience working with children and young people, particularly in a residential or care setting, is desirable but not essential.
-Level 3 Children and Young People Workforce Qualification (or willingness to work towards obtaining this qualification).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and young people.
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
- A patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to working with children and young people.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when needed.
- A genuine passion for helping and supporting vulnerable children and young people to achieve their full potential.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience of working with young people with emotional and behavioral difficulties or learning disabilities.
- First aid and/or other relevant qualifications.
