Vacancy: Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Role Type: Full time, Secondment/FTC until May 2027
Salary: £55,596 to £65,966 per annum (plus an Inner London allowance of £3,270 per annum)
Purpose: The Senior HR Business Partner will lead and shape HR strategy and partner with senior leaders to deliver people outcomes across major renewals and enhancements within the Eastern Routes Capital Programmes.

Key Accountabilities
* Working closely with the supported business area/s to develop, drive and implement the HR Strategy/People Plan, including talent, succession planning and change management, to support business objectives and drive a high performance culture.
* Act as an integral member of the business leadership team, building strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders. Coach, advise and co‑develop, design and execute integrated medium to long‑term people initiatives to meet current and future business needs.
* Act as a change agent; lead, support and contribute to change programmes, championing HR solutions within the supported business area and gaining stakeholder acceptance.
* Proactively manage trade union relationships, working with the Employee Relations team, HRBP colleagues and managers across the business.
* Reinforce and support ownership of people management by the business, line managers and the HR Business Partner model.
* Influence CoEs development of strategy and policy by sharing business/functional requirements and inputting into development and execution planning.
* Collaborate with CoEs, HR Shared Services, HR Direct and HRBP teams to identify and influence changes that improve HR service.
* Liaise with HR BPs in other areas to work collaboratively on cross‑business/geographical issues.
Essential
* Strong business/commercial understanding and ability to align HR with business needs.
* Proven experience partnering with senior leaders to improve people management.
* Customer service orientation with measurable business impact.
* Experience implementing best practice HR solutions to drive high performance.
* Credibility and ability to influence quickly.
* Coaching, influencing and strong stakeholder relationship skills with senior leaders.
* Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills at all levels.
* Experience identifying, developing and retaining talent with senior leaders.
* Excellent technical HR knowledge; CIPD qualification or relevant experience.
* Proven track record in complex environments and managing organisational change programmes (e.g., TUPE, organisation redesign, redundancy).
* Graduate calibre.
* Experience in a highly unionised environment (essential for roles supporting Maintenance & Operations Functions).

* MCIPD/post‑graduate HR qualification.
* Understanding of project management principles and experience delivering complex projects.
