Training & Development Officer Location: Belfast (with travel to other locations as required; hybrid working policy in place) Salary: £29,505 per annum Contract: Fixed-term for 15 months (with the possibility of becoming permanent, subject to funding) Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (evening and weekend work may be required at times to fulfil the obligations of the post) About the Organisation Charity Jobs NI is delighted to be exclusively partnering with Volunteer Now, Northern Irelands leading organisation promoting, developing and supporting volunteering. Volunteer Now supports individuals, organisations, and communities to promote volunteering, strengthen safeguarding practice, and build capacity across Northern Ireland. Their work spans community engagement, safeguarding, training, major events volunteering, and specialist advisory services across multiple sectors, including sport. The Role Volunteer Now is seeking a skilled and motivated Training & Development Officer to provide high-quality training, information, resources, and support on adult safeguarding practice. This role plays a key part in strengthening safeguarding standards across organisations, particularly within the sports sector. You will assess organisations against required safeguarding standards, develop implementation plans, deliver and coordinate training, and provide expert guidance on best practice in adult safeguarding. This role may also suit candidates who have worked in positions such as safeguarding officer, safeguarding training officer, learning and development officer, safeguarding advisor, or adult safeguarding practitioner. Key Responsibilities Carry out adult safeguarding assessments of organisations against required standards Develop assessment reports and implementation plans based on identified outcomes Coordinate and deliver adult safeguarding training programmes Develop and provide high-quality safeguarding information, guidance, and resources Respond to safeguarding enquiries and provide follow-up support where required Coordinate the development of online learning resources including webinars, videos, blogs, and podcasts Provide advice and guidance on Access NI eligibility Contribute to planning and development of safeguarding services, particularly within the sports sector Build and maintain effective partnerships with relevant organisations and stakeholders Identify opportunities for service improvement and business development Represent Volunteer Now as appropriate and contribute to cross-organisational teamwork About You You will be knowledgeable, organised, and confident in supporting organisations to improve safeguarding practice. You will bring: A third-level qualification or at least two years equivalent experience within the last five years A thorough understanding of adult safeguarding and required standards Experience of assessing organisations and providing tailored safeguarding support The ability to identify training needs and deliver high-quality training and information Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills Access to a form of transport to enable travel as required Experience in the sports sector, a training qualification, a social work qualification, or experience working directly with adults at risk would be advantageous.
